It’s out there! My very first audiobook project (very first project in general) has been available for purchase on Amazon, Audible, and Apple Books for almost two weeks now. It’s a surreal feeling, to be sure, knowing all of those hours spent “talking to myself” in the booth and meticulously editing my audio have come together to form something others can tangibly—or audibly, I guess—enjoy.
Though there’s so much room to grow, so many more skills to learn, and so many different kinds of projects I hope to be a part of in the future, I think it’s so important to take a moment here in the present and recognize what an accomplishment this is in my journey. My intention is certainly not to toot my own horn, but believe acknowledging how easy it would have been to NOT take this first step, this first risk, and then celebrating the fact that I DID is so encouraging. It’s a reminder that I can do this, and I’ll only get better if I keep doing it.
As much fun as recording and producing ADAM was, as exciting as it is to see the sales numbers climb a little bit each day, more than anything, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such an amazing author and rights holder on this project. I honestly could not have asked for a better first experience. Not only is Ryder Lyne an amazing storyteller, but she’s also an all-around genuinely awesome human being! It’s not an overstatement when I say that I hit the jackpot getting to work with her on this project.
I’m so grateful that Ryder took a chance on me—a complete newbie with literally no credits in my repertoire. She really went above and beyond the call of duty, too. In addition to being incredibly flexible and laid back as I figured out my process and addressed the challenges that occasionally cropped up, she also welcomed me into her creative community of other authors, poets, graphic designers, and more, helping me make invaluable connections with others in the industry. She has given me crash courses in marketing along the way to help promote both our project and my own brand so I can have more personal success in the future. And have I mentioned how incredibly supportive she is? Raving about my audio samples, sharing my work with others because she sincerely enjoys it, encouraging me to keep going and growing. It has been an absolute honor to work with Ryder Lyne in bringing her unique and exciting story to life for all of you. I hope you’ll check it out and get as much enjoyment out of it as I have (and maybe leave a review, too). And be on the lookout for The Order, book two of the Divine Bloodline Trilogy, coming soon!
